Marshall Brickmam, who has died aged 85, was an Oscar- and BAFTA-winning screenwriter who helped redefine Woody Allen’s screen persona with his work on Annie Hall (1977) and Manhattan (1979).

Marshall Brickman, who co-wrote hit films with Woody Allen including 'Annie Hall,' and the musical 'Jersey Boys,' has died at age 85.

The Oscar-winning screenwriter collaborated on comedies with Allen and directed movies of his own. He also co-wrote the book for the hit musical “Jersey Boys.”

Marshall Brickman, who won an Oscar for writing "Annie Hall" alongside Woody Allen and co-wrote "Sleeper" and "Manhattan," died Friday.

In an interview, Mr. Allen describes the years he spent collaborating with Mr. Brickman, a friend, on beloved movies. Mr. Brickman died on Friday.
